It means today is a day to stop and remember!
The night before he was crucified, Jesus met with his disciples to share a Passover meal together. Many important things happened that evening. Maundy Thursday is about remembering those things.
We remember his body that was given for us.
We remember his blood that was shed for us.
“Maundy” is a latin word that means “commandment.”
That evening, Jesus washed the disciples feet and He gave us a new commandment.
He gave us a commandment of love!
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” ~ John 13:34–35
My friend, may you and I remember and live out that commandment of love!
I hope you have a blessed Maundy Thursday!
