Stubborn?

By

What comes to your mind when you hear the word, stubborn?  Ok, I didn’t ask you who comes to mind.  🙂   We are stubborn people aren’t we?  Stuck in our ways, glued to our traditions, focused on what makes us feel good.  We like for things to stay the same.  If we have this same attitude with our spiritual walk, then we are heading down a road of destruction.  Maybe you’ve heard it said, “either you’re growing or you’re dying”.  There is some truth to this when it comes to how we listen to and obey God.  We are either obedient or we are disobedient.  There is no in between.  The people in Zechariah’s day were stubborn.  They would not listen to God.  They would not follow His will. They thought their way was better.  In Chapter 7, in the book of Zechariah, we read that they refused to pay attention; stubbornly they turned their backs and stopped up their ears. They made their hearts as hard as flint and would not listen. So the Lord Almighty was very angry.  He said, ‘When I called, they did not listen; so when they called, I would not listen.”  God is very clear about the importance of his children being obedient.  Walking with Him requires obedience.  God speaks to us in many ways and He calls us to do things for His kingdom.  Many times He calls us to step outside our comfort zones.  We must be very careful that we do not become stuck in our ways or stubborn in listening to His call.  Ignoring His voice is an act of disobedience and creates in us a hardened heart that can hinder our prayer life.  Let us NOT be stubborn in our Christian walk–instead, let us be attentive to His voice and obey whatever He calls us to do!
