Some for common use…

By

Romans 9:21 tells us, “Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use?”.   Today, my thoughts are centered around this verse.  You know, it seems silly to write this, but it is so true—we had nothing to do with our creation.  We didn’t choose our parents, our siblings, our height, our birthday, or much of anything, really.  God created us for His purpose and divine plan.  In this verse, Paul reminds us that we are the clay and God is the potter.  He can make out of us what He chooses.  He has the right to design us and our children how He sees fit—to become a part of His marvelous plan.  I think it is human nature for us to desire to be the pottery chosen for noble purposes.  We want to be extra-special!  We want this for our children too!  We want them to stand out and excel, to be given gifts that we think are extra-special.  But those gifts are given only by God and we cannot earn them…it is all a part of His divine plan for His creation.   Today, may we not see with human eyes, but with spiritual eyes to know that God is our potter.  May we approach His throne with gratitude and thankfulness to be His clay.  May we seek to find His call for our lives be it noble use or common use.  Let’s offer ourselves to be used by Him!
