New Beginnings

By

It’s that time of year again—a new school year!  For my kids, it’s time for school supply shopping, getting new tennis shoes and starting a new grade!  There is an excitement in the air this time of year as something “new” is around the corner.  A synonym for the word “new” is the word “fresh”.  A new school year is a fresh start!  One of my favorite verses is Lamentations 3:23-24 which says:

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,  for his mercies never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

I am so thankful God’s mercies are new each day, because I sure need them to be.  Mercy can be described as this:  God does not give us what we deserve, but He spares us.  Even though we are sinful, even though our hearts are evil, even though we stray away from God time and time again—His mercies are new each day and they never fail.  Aren’t you thankful our God is a God of second and third and fourth chances?  I sure am!  So, as the new school year starts back and you find yourself stuck behind school buses again, be mindful of God’s mercies and thank Him for loving you!  Thanks for reading this morning!  I hope you have a great day!
