Do I look fat in this?

Let’s face it—-Sometimes the truth hurts.

When we ask someone the question, “Do I look fat in this”, we are usually fishing for some conformation that we do NOT look fat.   If someone responds with “why yes, you do look fat in that”….well….we may just have to throw something at them!

We really like it when people affirm who we are.  Even if it’s the truth, most of us do not like it when people provide “helpful” suggestions on how we can do better.

We live in a world where there is very little distinction between right and wrong.  Things that used to be universally considered as “wrong” have now become “ok”.  Most things are in the gray zone and it’s a scary place to live.

Our world has lost its moral compass and we are spinning out of control!

Ephesians 4:15 says:

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.”

You and I should seek to know God as fully as possible on this side of eternity. We should not be satisfied with the current state of our spiritual lives. No matter how close we feel to God, we should chase after Him more in an effort to know and experience Him more.

As we walk our life’s journey, we need to know Truth and then we are called to speak Truth to those around us. We should not shy away from speaking what is true and right.

This world will lie to you.

The world will tell you there are many gods and there are many ways to get to heaven. NOT TRUE! There is only one way….THE way….and His name is Jesus.  (John 14:6)

The world will tell you to do whatever it takes to be happy. God’s Word tells you to be holy and righteousness.  (1 Peter 1:16)

The world will tell you to follow your heart. God’s Word tells you that your heart is deceitful and desperately wicked.  (Jeremiah 17:9)

The world says to climb the ladder and step on whomever you need to in order to be #1. God’s Word says to be humble and to consider other’s better than yourselves.  Be humble and God will exalt you.  (James 4:10)

People often make God up to be who they think He should be because they do not study His Word to know who He really is.  People often rationalize human understanding with a Holy God.  His ways are not our ways.  (Isaiah 55:8-89)

God’s ways do not always make sense when looked at from a human perspective.

If the world likes it or not—-God IS who He says He is in His Word!

When people misquote God, or say things that you know are contrary to His Word, you and I need to speak up and speak Truth to them under the filter of LOVE.

We need to be kind on how we deal with other people. We should not have an arrogant attitude towards those around us, but we cannot take a back seat when we know what is spoken is contrary to God’s Holy Word.

You and should seek to deepen our walk with God so we know Truth more deeply and we can speak it more confidently.

We should:

  • Study His Word daily
  • Pray more genuinely (broken, repentive, on our knees)
  • Join a Bible study
  • Have Christian fellowship and accountability
  • Serve someone who doesn’t deserve it
  • Give grace and forgiveness to others when it has not been earned
  • Love others when they are at their worst
  • Obey God even when we do not feel like it

My friend, be brave and speak Truth to others in love.  Be  humble and accept Truth from others when you are walking contrary to God’s Word.

Remember—Truth is Truth even when everyone else is against it.

God’s Word is Truth! Stand on it…speak it…..live it!

So glad you stopped by today!
